Our Children’s Museum on Wheels
What is a mobile museum?
Heart of Play’s Mobile Museum is a traveling children’s museum that brings hands-on play, STEAM learning, and creative experiences directly to parks, schools, libraries, and community spaces. The mobile experience is designed for families with children ages 2-12.
Instead of asking families to come to us—we go to them.
What will kids and families experience?
Every Mobile Museum experience is a little different, but you might find:
Large-scale building and engineering challenges
Hands-on science, art, and STEAM exploration
Sensory-rich, creative play experiences
Storytelling and cultural programming
Opportunities for families to play and learn together
It’s messy. It’s joyful. It’s real learning.
Why is a mobile museum important?
Childhood has changed.
Kids are spending more time on screens…
They spend less time in real-world play…
And have fewer spaces designed just for kids.
We believe play isn’t extra—it’s essential.
Play builds confidence, strengthens relationships, and supports healthy development. It helps kids make sense of the world—and their place in it.
The Mobile Museum is our way of bringing those experiences back into everyday life.
Starting Here. Building What’s Next.
The Mobile Museum is our first step toward a permanent children’s museum in Whatcom County.
We’re starting by showing up—bringing play directly into communities while we listen, learn, and build alongside families.
This isn’t just a phase.
The Mobile Museum will continue to be a core part of Heart of Play, expanding access and deepening connection across our region.
We’re building something bigger—together.
